This is a good fun site as it expands a few words into a whole text I have written a very simple letter of complaint and then in class my learners will try to predict what word should come next. I look forward to then getting the learners themselves to write by giving them two or three words and building up a text.

How many times do learners ask for more work on their pronunciation. I always add elements of it in the lessons but when the drive is to get learners through reading and writing, this important aspect is sometimes obscured. This might be something for them to get their teeth into. A site where you watch videos and listen to the speaker then you can record yourself repeating what they say and the pronunciation is compared. In theory this site can identify your particular problems and it helps you to focus on the sounds you need to work on more. More on how learners react to this later!

This story telling site where you choose art from different artists is interesting the only problem is that it’s target market appears to be children so some of the imagery is a bit too sugary for adults. However, I think it is worth exploring – here is an example on a rather simple exam question where learners are asked to describe someone they know.

The NLN Materials are small, flexible ‘bite-sized’ episodes of learning. They are not whole courses but are designed to support a wide range of subject and topic areas. The materials adopt a range of approaches involving some knowledge acquisition, a chance to practice and absorb, and some form of assessment to check that the learning has been understood and the learning outcome(s) achieved.
